About the collection
Like all of our limited editions of PRIM watches, this one also features several exceptional elements.
The goal of the designers and engineers was to create a sports watch that references the popular Czechoslovak sports watch model PRIM Sport. We have kept the oldest and most famous PRIM logo in the form of the “loaf shape” that is associated with the historically first sports models. The dial of the watch is uniquely made of damascus steel as well as the watch case and the rotatable lunette. The symbolic case made of unconventional material has acquired an exclusive but also very attractive appearance.
About the model
The PRIM Symbol Damascus model is designed to meet the demanding requirements and trends of today. The engineers and designers have based their design on the well-proven and elegantly sporty case.
The elegantly sporty model with its unique damascus watch dial, ceramic luminescent lunette insert and sculpted indices and lion symbol at 12 o’clock is protected by a high-quality anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass. Fans of sports watches can appreciate the specifically designed sculptured indices with a strong luminescent layer. The limited edition is fitted with the Swiss Sellita SW 260-1 calibre. The case is unconventionally made of damascus steel, closed with a dagger made of 316L stainless steel. Thanks to the specific way of processing the damascene steel, each piece is an original. The appearance of the damascus steel is characterized by its typical dynamic waves, which make the model a truly unique piece. As a matter of course, the sports model features a screw-down crown decorated with the PRIM logo.
The model is fitted with original watch hands with luminescent coating, which belong to this model without reservation. This sports watch model is tested for 10 ATM, which is also marked on the watch.
Each of the manufactured watch dials is an original piece of work thanks to its structure, which adds to the uniqueness of the model. The sporty look is complemented by the date wreath, which is in the colour of the indices at the 3 o’clock position. The watch is enclosed by a stainless steel bezel with a limited edition description and a see-through window complemented by the traditional lion symbol, so as to preserve the detail of the working watch movement and the modified rotor weight with the PRIM AUTOMATIC marking. The watch is fitted with a traditional leather strap with the lion symbol and a specially designed butterfly buckle.
The rotating Damascus lunette is completed with a ceramic insert with a strong luminescent layer and so it complements the overall exclusive look of the PRIM Symbol Damascus model. The designers matched the colour of the date wreath with the shade of the indices, which makes the overall look of the watch very compact. Of course, this limited edition comes with a special box, original warranty card and service card.
Damascus steel
According to the remaining records, this unique steelmaking technique dates back to the first millennium BC, when only a few blacksmiths knew the process and so they passed on the secrets of the production only through verbal communication. The technique is believed to have originated in ancient India from where it gradually found its way to other regions.
The name ‘Damascus steel’, as it is used today, refers to the city of Damascus, from where it was exported to Europe as a trade item. Today’s Damascus steel is produced by so-called forge welding of two steels with a different carbon content. The combination of low-carbon and high-carbon steel at high pressures and temperatures of over 1400 °C produces a hard and tough steel. This cladding process is repeated until the required number of layers is achieved. This produces a solid block of steel which is then further processed. When cut vertically or diagonally, damascene steel is then characterised by its well-known unique pattern, which makes it suitable for applications where aesthetic features are required. Its main use is for knife blades, but it has also found its place in the watch and jewellery industries.
