About the collection

Muonionalusta – meteorite
In the PRIM watches edition Tourbillon Meteorite we combined original and unique materials with elegant design. The idea to create the limited edition of PRIM Tourbillon Meteorite originated in the early 2016, when we had the chance to see raw meteorite. New collection is limited by the number of unique dials to 60 pieces and obtains historically oldest logo PRIM, which was created for the Chronotech Šternberk in 1955.

Meteorite

The process of manufacture of this original and unique piece took several months; first prototypes of the dial ended up by damaged diamond grindstones and shards of this expensive material. Besides that, our manufacture was limited by the amount of this rare material as we had a high demands on the perfect and accurate processing. It happens to be a irreplaceable part of the universe, but after many successful tests we created first prototype of dials matching our demands.

Meteorite

Soon after the creation of the solar system, around 4,5 billion years ago, an object consisting of an alloy of iron and nickel had been created in the space- a meteorite. The meteorite has been travelling around our solar system ever since, up until around million years ago, when it fell on the Earth near the arctic circle, in the north of today’s Sweden, near the borderline with Finland. The collision broke this meteorite into pieces and scattered it around the area, which was big around 15 x 20 kilometres. First fragment was found as early as 1906, and more than 40 pieces has been found ever since. Meteorite was given the name Muonionalusta after the area of discovery, near the river Muonio.

Technology

THE ROYALTY OF WATCHMAKING COMPLICATIONS – TOURBILLON

Tourbillon is a mechanism that compensates for the influence of gravity on the accuracy of watch movements. It is a mechanical anchor mechanism, located inside a movable platform with centralized inertia, which rotates around its own axis once a minute, thereby providing a change in the position of the flywheel relative to the Earth’s core. This is one of the “high” clockwork complications of so-called Haute Horlogerie. It was invented by A. L. Breguet in 1795. Tourbillon watches are only offered by high-quality watch brands, and are indicative of the brand’s standards.

Design

A rare piece of the universe – original and true

Materials used in the manufacture of the dials are from the space and these materials are unique because of their WINDMANSTATTEN patterns. It is necessary to mention that no surfaces of dials that are modified by etching, sharpening or adjusted by any other chemical, physical or mechanical way are able to reach such attractive surface as it is in case of Meteorite. It has its very specific crystalline structure, which is why every dial is an original piece. Each dial is made and sharpened into its final form from one raw plate of meteorite, which is thick around 1 mm.

New collection is limited by the number of unique dials to 60 pieces and obtains historically oldest logo PRIM, which was created for the Chronotech Šternberk in 1955.
